2Chronicles; 28:3
(He burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.)
When Ahaz was king of Judah, he did evil in the sight of the Lord God. He worshiped as the pagans who God had delivered into the hand of Israel. We know that these religions had some very evil practices of which this one was horrendous. They would heat up these metal idols they worshiped until they were red hot. Then they would place their own babies into the arms of these idols to be burned to death. What a horrible death these babies were subjected to. How could they be so cruel?
Aren't we glad that we don't live in this time period? But wait a minute. We are living in a time period just like this. We don't call ours worship but instead we call it abortion. Same horrendous death for innocent babies. Maybe they aren't put into the arms of a red hot idol to die but they are put into the arms of an abortion doctor. Pastor Chuck Smith said it this way, "Babies killed for the sake of convenience, offered up to the god of pleasure, burned in the abortionist's saline solution". How can we be so cruel?
God punished nations when they refused to obey Him. How much more deserving of punishment is our nation for this abomination? We have the Word of God to teach us that this is morally wrong, yet we have made abortion perfectly legal. Any time we try to change the abortion laws, there are people who hit the streets protesting any change. When someone runs for office, this is one platform they must agree with or face losing the election. Many candidates cave in to these pro abortionist groups just to win the election.
The God of the Old Testament is the same God we will answer to today. He doesn't change. What was an abomination to Him then is an abomination to Him today. We need to pray for forgiveness and outlaw this horrendous law. You may disagree with this, but you are not disagreeing with me but with God's moral law. He is the one we all have to answer to one day.
God Bless You!
