After Jesus had been in the wilderness fasting for forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. Satan came to Him and began the temptation. He knew that Jesus was hungry and tried to tempt Him with his hunger. Jesus quoted the Scripture to Satan.
Matthew; 4:4
(But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' ")
Jesus had come to do the will of the Father, nothing was going to stop Him from accomplishing the Father's will.
Are you taking in earthly bread as well as Spiritual bread. We need earthly bread to sustain life here on earth, and we need Spiritual bread to gain life into eternity. Where do we find this Spiritual bread?
John; 6:27
(Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.")
Jesus told them He was real food which leads to eternal life. Everything in this world will be destroyed one day and we need to be giving our lives to Jesus. He is the only real food and the provider of eternal life.
John; 6:47-48
(Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life.)
All through the Scripture we are told that we must believe in Jesus to have eternal life. This is putting all your faith in Him, and believing that He is who He says He is, and that there is nothing you can do to save yourself except believe in Him. Jesus paid the price for sin when He died on the cross. When Jesus died on the cross, He said it is finished. He had completed the will of the Father and provided the means for forgiveness of sins. Jesus is the only way to have forgiveness of sins.
John; 14:6
(Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.)
Romans; 10:9-10
(that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.)
It's that simple!
God Bless You!
