Matthew; 7:6 (Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.)
Now what is being said here? When you are witnessing, you must make a judgment call. Is this person open to hearing the truth from God's Word or do they just want to be argumentative. Under Mosaic Law, dogs and swine are unclean animals. Here this refers to wicked people. So what are we to do when we encounter these type of people?
When we meet people who treat God's truths with contempt and all they want to do is be abusive and or violent, we are not under any obligation to continue to share the gospel with them. Now this does require some spiritual discernment and we need to ask God for wisdom when dealing with this person. Only God knows the heart of man so prayer will be in order. After you have shared the gospel with this person and they just want to blaspheme the Word of God, then it would appear you are wasting your time with them. What you have told them about God, they then become responsible themselves with what they know.
2Peter; 2:21 (For it would have better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them.)
If you are spending time witnessing to a person who is obstinate, give them the gospel and move on to someone else. Spending to much time with argumentative people results in lost labor. Move on to the person who is ripe for the seed to be planted and having a heart that is open to hear the Word. We obey God by planting the Word and then God causes the growth.
God Bless You!
