Honor Your Parents!

Ephesians; 6:2-3
("Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: "that it may be well with you and you live long on the earth.")
When God gave His law in the ten commandments, this was one of them. For the family to function as God ordained it, there must be this respect from the child to the parent. If this respect is missing, then the family doesn't function properly and the result is strife within the family. When God told you that your days may be long upon the earth, the punishment for disrespect in the Book of Exodus was death, while obedience was the chance for a long life.

Another reason for listening to and respecting your parents is that they always have your best interest in mind when they tell you what to do and what not to do. It isn't that they don't want you to have fun, they just are looking out for your safety. It's unfortunate in today's society because children have zero respect for their parents. This then results in no respect for any authority. The child is basically running loose doing whatever they feel like. Many time this results in premature death from drinking or drugs or hanging out with the wrong crowd doing what is wrong.

Remember, God always knows what is best for us as He created everyone of us. When God says don't do it, He knows what are the consequences of every action, whether good or bad. So the next time you think about doing something, ask yourself, what does God say about this?

God Bless You!
