Having The Love Of God, And Showing It.

I was thinking today just how blessed I am to have my family and friends. Sometimes we just take it for granted. Not the case. Though it would be nice if it was always that way. Take children who only have one parent, or no parents at all. They would give anything to have a family. The same for husbands or wives who have lost their mates. If we are to show the love of God in our lives, we need to have compassionate love for one another.

We are told in Gods word to look after orphans and widows. James; 1:27 ( Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.) Another place is 1 John; 3:17-18 (But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.)

So we need to show our love for our fellow brothers and sisters by our actions. God demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins. Everyone should know John;3:16 (For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.) Also in 1John; 4:9 (By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.)

So we are commanded to love our brothers and sisters as we love God. If you say you love God but you have ill will for a brother or sister, then how can you say I love God. 1John 4:20-21 (If someone says,"I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.) No getting around it, is there?

God knew us when He made us. So He covered everything that we would deal with in the scriptures. You might say "well how do we know that God wrote the scriptures?" 2Peter; 1:20-21( knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.)

You don't have to believe me. Do as the men of Berea. Acts; 17:11 (Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.) That is how you will find out what God has to say.

I pray that if you don't study the Scriptures daily, you will start today.

God Bless You
