Ill-Gotten Profit , Profits No One!

When you listen to the news or read in the paper, how many time have you said "I can't believe that". What I'm talking about is all the frivolous lawsuits that happen in our country everyday. Is it me or is our country just going to the court systems? We wonder why things are getting so bad with our court systems and stand by while these schemers are suing people into poverty. This doesn't happen just once in a while, this is everyday life.

Today I heard on the news where this girl was kissing her friend on the school campus and the school informed her parents. So she gets an attorney and tells how she was humiliated and is suing the school for over a million dollars. She was doing what she wasn't suppose to be doing and got caught, so now the tax payers are going to have to pay. What's with that? The sad thing is that the courts are favoring on the side of the complainant and awarding outrages settlements.

What has become of us? Where are we learning this? We watch television and we see other people winning these large settlements and we say to ourselves, "Why not me"?
This is one reason our insurance rates are so high in our country. Some of our doctors have left the general practice because of the high malpractice insurance. I'm sure that there are some legitimate cases of malpractice, but many are trying to get rich quick. You have the woman who spilled her coffee on herself and it burned so she sued McDonald's for serving her hot coffee. I thought coffee was suppose to be hot.You have the burglar who broke into the store owners business and gets hurt in the process and sues the owner for not protecting him.
It just never ends. But what does God say about ill-legal gain?

There is nothing wrong with money in and of itself, but the love of money brings much trouble into a persons life.
1Timothy;6:10
(For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.)
Having financial wealth is not a sin, but being greedy for more has caused people to fall into various sins. God may have blessed us with a lot of money and He wants us to use it wisely. We are to be content with what God has given us, but that isn't always the case. It seems like we just want more and more and are never satisfied.

So we have the desire to acquire more wealth and get ourselves into much grief. When our focus is on money, then it isn't on God.
Luke;16:13
("No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.")
God tells us over and over that He will not take second place in our lives. He is to be the focus of our worship and nothing else. We are or keep our minds on God and heaven, not on earthly wealth.

When the rich young ruler came to Jesus and ask what more he could do to have eternal life, Jesus told him to sell all of his earthly goods and give to the poor. Now this made the rich ruler sad because he had much wealth. We cannot buy our way into heaven, no matter how much money that we have.
Matthew;19:23
(Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.)
Now this really troubled the disciples, so they ask Jesus who could be saved? Jesus had destroyed the notion that anyone could merit enough divine favor to enter heaven on their own. So Jesus told the disciples how they could get into heaven.
Matthew;19:26
(But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.")
Salvation is only through Jesus Christ. There is no other way into heaven.

God does not bless ill-gotten gains.
Proverbs;1:18-19
(But they lie in wait for their own blood; They ambush their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors.)
Proverbs;10:2
(Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death.)
Proverbs;23:4-5
(Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, Cease from your consideration of it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.)
We are told that all wealth is temporary. What will really count is the treasures that we store up in heaven.
Matthew;16:26
("For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?")

There is nothing wrong with having money as long as we don't serve money or worship money. We all need money to live, but we need to get that money properly by working. When you sue someone falsely to gain money from that person or business, it will come to no good. Make your money honestly, don't scam other people.
Profit made illegally, profits no one!

God Bless You!
